Welcome to Families 1st, where our name reflects our goals. Families are of great importance to us as we deliver services to youths and adults in need of support care. We provide supportive care to individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioural, emotional and/or communicative challenges to help them succeed in their individualized goals and dreams.
Our Community Homes promote a strong sense of Belonging for our clients, where their sense of self has them Believing they can succeed and Become Community members enjoying daily living. We work directly with each individual to Build an individualized healthy support plan to ensure their dreams and goals are met with the required supports needed.
What we do
Each Program at Families 1st supports youth and adults in a small home setting, with a maximum of four residents in each home. Each home is supported with a high resident: staff ratio and a Board-Certified Behavior Therapist.
Our Community Homes support the development of strong teams, of professional care staff. Each home has an onsite manager that is designated to the program in a full-time capacity. This provides our staff with constant support, guidance and collaboration with industry partners and supports to ensure a high standard of care.
Promoting social inclusion means supporting people to be a part of the community through activities such as volunteering, working, and participating in local sports teams. We strive to make sure that clients have the daily supports they need to live on their own, or with others, and to make informed choices in their care plans, goals and dreams.

SUPPORTIVE STAFF
Our teams of professional workers have the knowledge and skills required to support people with developmental disabilities across the lifespan. Utilizing person-directed planning, we advocate for self-determination in individuals with developmental disabilities, and facilitate the development of natural and other required supports and opportunities for full community participation wherever possible .
DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES
We support individuals with various complex special needs; such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, behavioural challenges, and/or in need of daily care to succeed in their dreams and goals.
